Bilbao Bizkaia HARRO 2024, the Basque Country’s LGBTI+ Pride celebration , has begun its countdown to unfold its rainbow program across Bizkaia. This initiative in support of the freedom and rights of the LGBTI+ community will take place between June 14th and 23rd . This event, which combines leisure, culture, and activism, is now in its tenth year; a whole decade of dancing and working for something as indisputable and essential as the right to be, to feel, and to love.

The streets of Bilbao , with the Arenal as its central hub, as well as Santurtzi , will once again host BBHARRO’s activities. Furthermore, in this milestone edition, Derio, Sodupe-Güeñes, and Getxo join the program .

The program will take place in the municipalities on June 14, 15, and 16: on June 14, the event will be in Derio, while on June 15, activities will be held in Santurtzi and Sodupe-Güeñes. On June 16, it will be Getxo’s turn. Finally, the rainbow will unfold over Bilbao from June 20 to 23.

The Bizkaia Provincial Council, the Bilbao City Council and Basquetour are entities that make this event possible due to its diversity, in addition to the City Councils of Santurtzi, Getxo and Derio.

Cinema, drag gala, guided tours, boats, performances…

Bilbao Bizkaia HARRO offers a full program of cultural and leisure activities, always with a focus on advocacy and raising awareness. Details of the schedules for each location will be announced later.

As a preview, it should be noted that Bilbao will not lack its usual events, such as the free and open access performances, the zumba session on the Gran Vía, which will take place on the 23rd, or the Ur Parade, which will sail along the estuary on June 22nd.

Another proposal will be guided tours that will address the milestones in the history of the LGBTI+ movement in the Basque Country, as well as the meeting spaces of the collective today.

The HARROladies program will be packed, with activities specially designed by and for LGBTQ+ women. And of course, heels, glitter, extravagance, boldness, and empowerment will come together at the Drag Gala, a very special show for Bilbao Bizkaia HARRO because it gives visibility to the new generations who want to dedicate themselves to drag.

Finally, the free LGBTI+ short film series will take place, now in its third year at the San Nikolas metro station, thanks once again to the collaboration of Eusko Trenbide Sarea. To enjoy this program, simply head to the station.
